Efficient & Effective Advising – Providing Parity in Decision-Making
International Higher Education professionals spend a lot of time learning regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and best practices, but spend less time on honing how to communicate this information to the students, faculty, and the other populations in a manner that encourages parity in the process. This session is for all international education professionals looking to improve the quality and delivery of information, advice, and guidance that allows the decision-maker to be actively involved in the decisions. It will include service delivery in advising sessions, intentional use of various communication methods and media, skills for advisers, and guidelines for service both personally and in a wider context.
Presenter(s): Sarabeth Trujillo (UNC) & Chris Ferguson (HPU)
