Community Colleges Representative

Term Three Years
Appointment: By State Chair

Qualifications: Must have two years or more experience in international education.  Should be familiar with international education issues related to Community Colleges. Should demonstrate commitment to the concept of professional development through participation in conferences and workshops. Preference given to candidates currently working at a Community College.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend NCAIE Board Meetings representing the international education interests of community colleges in North Carolina.
  • Be sensitive to and aware of North Carolina Community College concerns, serving as a resource person for Community College international educators in North Carolina.
  • Arrange, implement and/or lead Community College-related sessions at the NCAIE State Conference each year. Review Community College session proposals for the NCAIE State Conference. 
  • As needed, and/or requested by the State Chair, provide training and support for Community College professionals by arranging, implementing and/or leading state workshops (in addition to the NCAIE State Conference) dealing with relevant issues and concerns.
  • Identify potential Community College candidates (newcomers and others) for participation in NCAIE, encouraging involvement in organizational activities and in NCAIE, as well as other international professional organizations.
  • As needed, keep NCAIE participants informed (through Listserv/Database and/or Website etc.) of relevant Community College developments, issues and concerns.
  • Assess/develop/recruit potential new leaders for Community College position and assist Chair Stream in recruiting, selecting and training a replacement. Serve as a mentor to the successor.
  • Attend the NCAIE State Conference.
  • Attend the NAFSA Region VII and NAFSA National Conferences if possible.
  • Assist with other NCAIE events throughout the year, as needed.
